| | Vlada bo odločala o plačilu 6,5 milijona evrov kotizacije za organizacijo evropskega prvenstva v košarki. Če bo rekla ne, bo Slovenija od kandidature odstopila, sicer pa se nam obeta največji športni dogodek na naših tleh v zadnjih 40 letih.
Košarka
Če bo slovenska vlada plačala zahtevano vsoto, bo Fiba o prireditelju odločala 5. decembra v Münchnu.
Vlada bo na redni seji med drugim razpravljala o plačilu 6,5 milijona evrov za organizacijo evropskega prvenstva 2013 v Sloveniji. Odločitev vlade je ključna, saj se bo Košarkarska zveza Slovenije v primeru njenega negativnega stališča nemudoma odpovedala kandidaturi.
To je zgodovinska odločitev, saj se Sloveniji le redko ponudi priložnost za organizacijo tako odmevnega tekmovanja, kot je evropsko prvenstvo v košarki. Od osamosvojitve dalje je Slovenija gostila evropska prvenstva v rokometu, gimnastiki in vaterpolu, izvedba košarkarskega prvenstva pa bi bil največji športni dogodek v Sloveniji od svetovnega prvenstva za košarkarje 1970.
Košarkarska zveza Slovenije je v ponedeljek ministrstvu za šolstvo in šport predala temeljito analizo stroškov evropskega prvenstva. Slovenija bi lahko imela celo več prihodkov od prvotno načrtovanih nekaj manj kot 30 milijonov evrov, strošek države pa je poleg plačila 6,5 milijonov evrov kotizacije Mednarodni košarkarski zvezi Fiba v šestih letih še prispevek h gradnji novih dvoran na Ptuju in v Novem mestu.
Glavni pomislek premierja Boruta Pahorja prejšnji teden je bilo dejstvo, da Slovenijo v letu 2013 že čakata dva velika projekta – Evropska prestolnica kulture ter zimska univerzijada v Mariboru, za katera je odgovornost prav tako sprejela država.
